Andrzej Maleszka

Born in Poznań in 1955, Andrzej Maleszka graduated in Polish Studies from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Film director, author of scripts, plays and novels. Winner of the Emmy Award and several dozen of prestigious awards at the festivals in Chicago, New York, Munich, Cairo and others. One of the best European directors for the young audience, an artist famous for his unusual imagination. Fantastic and realistic motifs are interwoven in Maleszka’s works. Usually the plot takes place in real, modern world, where amazing, magic events suddenly appear. We receive a very dynamic plot and strong, authentic emotions of its heroes. In spite of the fantastic elements, his works tell a lot about real problems of contemporary children.  Andrzej Maleszka is an expert in working with children actors, who in his films create great roles. The films by Andrzej Maleszka are shown all over the world.

   His film experience is vividly present in his books, rich in dynamic plots and fascinating visual scenes, in which children’s authentic world never ceases to be present. These modern stories combine realistic and fantastic elements in a way that is very close to young readers.

“A Hundred Minute Holidays”, a feature film and a TV series, a co-production of Polish and German TV.

“Morphus”, a feature film (only the author of the script), Germany/Switzerland.

“The End of the World of the Nowak Family”, a TV feature film.

“The Machine of Changes”, a TV series shown all over the world, many awards, AN EMMY AWARD NOMINATION.   

“A Blue Rose”, a film produced by Eurovision (EBU), a part of international series EBU.

The films by Andrzej Maleszka are shown in many countries (Japan, China, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark and others).

His plays were translated to many languages and were put on stage in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, France, Hungary and others).

The novel The Magic Tree will soon be translated into English.
